filming finished

We have finished filming and reshot a few scenes of the car broken down as the originals were wobbly and so we re-filmed them with a different tripod making sure it was stable.
now we can start editing properly.
We have now filmed in four sections :
the first was the car break down which everyone turned up to
the second was the shed scenes which again everyone turned up to
the third as the forest scenes which dean did not attend
the fourth was the re filming of the car break down which neither dean nor elsa (who had a hospital appointment) attended

FONTS :D

we have looked at the fonts in final cut express and have found a few that could be appropriate for our opening.

they are ;
headlineA, Andale mono, Zapfio-Bold, Trajan pro, STFfangsong, Skia, Oska and orator STD these are all ones that would suit our opening clip, as we thought they had a creepy side to then.

Credits :)

We have looked at this clip for its titles and opening credits. We like the film but we are not doing sci-fi so the effects they use are not what we are wanting. they use blues and blacks to create a un humanly mechanical feel.

We will use white credits on a black background with a creepy font e.g. not times new roman but something different which will create a creepy effect . but the font will need to be very clear as it will be on the screen for only a few seconds. the use onf the black and white makes it clear and simple . we wont use red colours as red is usually assocated with blood and horror films.

Editing

In to days lesson we did some basic editing by separating the shots into what might use and what we wont use. The plan is to finish filming on Friday the 19th of Feb so we will be ready to finish editing after half term so it will be easier to hit our deadline :)

examples of music to set the scene within thrillers

(First 2 minutes)

I have chosen these examples because they really portray the moment and emotion of the scenes. The music used in the "Titanicc" sinking scene, gives the viewer a sense of the sadness and distress of the passengers aboard, and of the sense that most of the people on board only have moments left of there lives. In the "Shooter" however, the music portrays the build up of tension leading to an action scene of some sort The music gives the viewer a sense that the action is about to begin. These are the sort of emotions we want to give viewers of our film by using music in the same manner the directors used in these blockbusters.

Some more thriller examples.

These are some more examples of thriller films and what they entail. There are 3 different genres here, but they all have qualities in common.

Sci-Fi

Action

Disaster

There are many thriller films with many different sub-genres, but every single one has the same thing in common. Fast paced, action packed, explosive(in most cases literally) scenes from start to finish. This is what defines a thriller from another genre such as Horror or comedy.(but there are cases that use small amounts of horror or other genres within thrillers)Many thrillers use the "anything can happen" rule, which means they don't have to follow real world rules. Another more common expression of this is "far-fetched". The Alien vs Predator films are a prime example of this as they use futuristic technology and aliens dominate the known galaxy. On many occasions During the films, the lead character survives situations they would not normally survive in real life. This is the definition of far-fetched.

Date Change

We have changed the date of the filming of the forest location from the 31st Jan to the 19th Feb. This is because the 19th is during half term giving us more time to film on location. It also gives us more flexible hours instead of only having to film after school.

second day of filming

On tuesday 2nd february Elsa, Hannah, Luke and Dean filmed the scenes in the shed. This went well and we managed to do all our camera techniques well. As it was raining at the time it added atmosphere to the filming and contributed to the atmosphere.
